Kelly McCoy is a Major in the U.S. Army, currently assigned to the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA. He has served over 41 months of combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Serving initially as a Military Intelligence Officer, Kelly’s assignments included assistant intelligence officer for TF 2-14 Infantry, Human Intelligence Operations Chief for CJTF-76 in Afghanistan, and Company Commander of Charlie Company, of 502d Military Intelligence Battalion.
Currently serving as a U.S. Army strategist, Kelly has served at United States Southern Command where he wrote theater strategy, strategic estimates, and led a wide variety of planning groups. In his current assignment, Kelly serves as the Engagement Strategist for the Commanding General of TRADOC. He is responsible for the development, planning, coordination, and assessment of the Commanding General’s activities with special attention to Multi-Domain Battle. Kelly also volunteers as the Director of the Defense Entrepreneurs Forum Cloud Advisory. In his spare time Kelly writes poetry, fiction, and non-fiction focused on national security and the experiences of war. He received a B.A. in Peace Studies and Legal Studies from Chapman University and a Masters of Public Administration from The George Washington University.
